AEC Congratulates Minister Bowen and Assistant Minister Wilson on their Reappointments

The peak body for energy retailers and generators, the Australian Energy Council, congratulates the Hon. Chris Bowen MP on his reappointment as Minister for Climate Change and Energy.

The AEC’s Chief Executive, Louisa Kinnear, said, “We are in the midst of a once-in-a-generation energy transformation, one that requires stable policy, consistent leadership, and long-term reforms capable of withstanding political cycles. Minister Bowen’s reappointment provides the continuity needed to help make that possible.

“Minister Bowen’s work over the past three years has been invaluable to Australia’s energy transition. His continued leadership provides strong confidence around the current pathway.

“This is a pivotal moment for the energy sector. Further work is needed to shape the market frameworks that will support a system powered by wind and solar, underpinned by hydro, storage, and gas. Successfully balancing affordability, reliability, and sustainability will be key to delivering and maintaining community confidence in the transition.”

The Council also welcomes the return of Assistant Minister Josh Wilson to support the Climate Change and Energy portfolio.

“Assistant Minister Wilson has hit the ground running since his appointment last year, and we look forward to seeing his leadership in the climate and energy space continue over the coming term.

“The Australian Energy Council looks forward to continuing its work with Minister Bowen and Assistant Minister Wilson in the next Parliament to help deliver an energy transition that works for all Australians.”
